The Ballad of Accipiter

Accipiter was a hunter

he lived of wood and game.

The world abroad he crossed

he wanted his soul to tame.

Through hills and meadows

across streams and lakes.

He wandered in shadows

ignoring all the stakes.

At nights so dark he screamed

“where am I to go” he said

Confussion in his soul steamed

loneliness crept instead.

All dark creatures he slayed

evil feared the blade in his hands.

But in his heart one doubt remained

the question still stands.

On the nest there is the dove

Who shall make him true

Who is he to love

To take away his blue.
